In this format, I highlight your most-discussed topics and share current insights into Škoda’s electric mobility developments. This time, we’re covering data leaks, software updates, the ENYAQ facelift, and much more.
12-Volt Battery Issues Are Increasing
Over the past months, I’ve received numerous reports about problems with the ENYAQ’s 12-volt battery. Many drivers report warnings like “Battery protection limit exceeded” in the app, while the battery is often only recharged to 13.1 to 13.2 volts. Škoda appears to have issued a technical product information (TPI) notice, but the exact root cause remains unclear. I’ll continue to investigate this for you.
The Volkswagen Data Leak – What Does It Mean for ENYAQ Owners?
A major data leak at Volkswagen became public in late 2024. Around 800,000 vehicles were affected, including Škoda models built after July 2024. Particularly concerning: location data could be retrieved with up to 10 cm accuracy, despite promises of 10 km-level anonymization.
While Škoda vehicles were reportedly not affected, the bigger question remains:
Why is so much data collected in the first place, and why can’t customers opt out?
Disappearing User Profiles in the ENYAQ
Shortly after the leak became known, I experienced a strange issue myself:
My user profile in the ENYAQ suddenly vanished, and the entire menu became inaccessible. Only after re-accepting the data privacy terms did the system return to normal.
Coincidence – or a security measure triggered by Škoda? Have you experienced anything similar?
Software Update 3.7 – Why Is It Taking So Long?
The long-awaited software update 3.7 for all first-generation ENYAQ models has been rolling out since May 2024, but is still not available to all users. Vehicles running software version 3.2 have had to wait the longest, but the update is now finally being delivered over the air.
One issue that may have contributed to the delay: AC charging phase loss, which caused the car to charge at 7 kW instead of 11 kW. That problem now appears to be resolved.
For ENYAQ drivers with software version 4, the big question remains:
When will version 5 arrive?
There’s still no official date – but it’s expected sometime in 2025.
ENYAQ Facelift – Is the Update Enough?
With the new ENYAQ facelift, Škoda brings mostly visual upgrades: the Modern Solid design, slightly improved aerodynamics, and software version 5.4.
The pricing has been adjusted relative to equipment levels, making the vehicle more attractive.
However, the technical improvements are minor, and I expect Škoda will need to launch a technical facelift based on MEB+ in the coming years to remain competitive.
News From the Mileage King
The well-known 310,000 km ENYAQ from taxi entrepreneur Felix is still running flawlessly and has just passed its technical inspection with no issues – still on its original brake discs!
Felix has already ordered new ENYAQ facelift models and remains loyal to the brand. He is also considering a battery refresh – more on that in a future video.
